The First Day

I arrived in Buenos Aires at 9:50am this morning, a little bleary eyed, quite exhausted, but still smiling as I stepped out into the sunshine and warm weather. I was finally able to shed the bulky cashmere sweater I'd been wearing since I left New York, and the thought of not having to wear it again in the near future was quite comforting. After a taxi trip into the city, I somewhat settled into my room at the student residence where I'll be staying while I do my teacher training. I got about half way through unpacking when I realized I needed a nap. I woke up a few hours later, feeling much refreshed, and a little surprised to look out the window and see a clear blue sky and plenty of sunshine, even though it was just past 5pm. In New York it would already be dark and dreary and so I decided to walk around the neighborhood a bit to familiarize myself with my surroundings. The streets were pretty empty, it is after all summer vacation down here, but I wandered aimlessly (and without getting lost) for about 2 hours, before I had blisters and needed to come back inside. I then finished unpacking, and then became immersed in another chapter of The Happiness Project while sitting on the roof terrace. All in all, it was a leisurely day, and I very much look forward to exploring more tomorrow. Until then, adios!
